Join us on Tuesday February 4 as we celebrate Black History Month with a special performance by storyteller 'Momma Kemba.' She will present a fully costumed dramatic portrayal of Sojourner Truth a formerly enslaved woman who became a powerful advocate for abolition temperance and civil and women's rights in the nineteenth century.
This program will be held at 2:30 pm in person at the Levy Senior Center in Bobby's Room and online via Zoom. It's free but advance registration is required. Register at lscfevanston.org.
About the Presenter
'Momma Kemba' travels the U.S. and abroad keeping the spirit of strong black women in American history alive through dramatic storytelling and song. Extensive research is evident in each of her presentations described as "spiritual riveting dynamic fine-tuned motivational inspirational and educational." The stories of Harriet Tubman Mary McLeon-Bethune Sojourner Truth Ida B. Wells Aunt Clara Brown and Fannie Lou Hamer are done in full costume. Kemba conducts workshops that demonstrate teaching and learning through drama and storytelling.
