Before the music begins, join us for the third gathering of the 2026 Levitt Lawn Lit Club on Saturday, August 8 featuring Medicine River by Mary Annette Pember.
This moving and deeply personal memoir explores Indigenous identity, family, healing, and the enduring strength of Native communities. Through stories that weave together personal experience, history, and journalism, Mary Annette Pember examines the lasting impacts of boarding schools, cultural displacement, and generational trauma while celebrating resilience, survival, and the power of reclaiming one's story.
An enrolled citizen of the Red Cliff Band of Wisconsin Ojibwe, Pember writes with honesty, compassion, and insight, inviting readers to reflect on belonging, memory, and the importance of preserving culture across generations.
Together, we'll explore the themes of Medicine River and engage in a community conversation about storytelling, identity, healing, and the voices that help us better understand one another.
Following the discussion, stay for a free concert featuring Supaman, the acclaimed Indigenous hip-hop artist, dancer, and motivational speaker whose performances blend music, culture, and storytelling into an inspiring celebration of Indigenous pride, resilience, and connection.
