Let's Rock her Recovery: Supporting One of Our Own in the Community.
On Friday nights, you can usually find Sonja "Sissy" Williams Daurity at the High Springs Lions Club, bringing a smile to everyone's face and enjoying karaoke. For years, she has been the first to step up whenever someone else needed a hand—whether it was participating in charity poker runs for children or supporting other events. Sonja has a massive giving heart, always giving without ever expecting a single thing in return.
Now, Sonja needs our community to rally around her.
Recently, Sonja was involved in a devastating early morning accident. While turning onto County Road 138 from Highway 27, her front passenger tire blew out. The vehicle went into a ditch, and despite her best efforts to correct it, the truck rolled over. Sonja was thrown from the vehicle, which ultimately landed on top of her.
The Long Road to Recovery
While we are incredibly grateful she survived, Sonja faces an incredibly steep uphill battle. The reality of her situation is challenging:
Her Injuries prevent her from getting back to work.
No Vehicle: Her truck was completely totaled in the crash.
No Insurance: Due to the timing of the accident and her stay in the hospital, her coverage unfortunately lapsed.
A Full-Time Caregiver: As a self-employed lifelong resident of our area, Sonja chose working for herself so she could flexibly care for her family. She does all the cooking, shopping, and household management fHer Injuriesor her mother and stepfather, Dale Eastman, both of whom face severe age and health challenges.
Sonja has dedicated her life to taking care of everyone else. Now, she has a long, difficult road to heal, no way to get to her appointments, and mounting medical bills.
How You Can Help
We are hosting a benefit to help Sonja get back on her feet. All funds raised will go directly toward:
Securing future medical care and managing accumulated hospital bills.
Securing a down payment for a reliable vehicle so she can get to her doctors and continue caring for her parents.
