About this Event
Let's come together on Earth Day and clean up our community!
At this annual event, we will work together to clean up The Meadoway, recording the litter we collect to contribute to community science projects that benefit the health of our watersheds. Gloves, garbage bags and litter picker tools will be available to use during the event.
To help contribute to our understanding of the plants and animals that call The Meadoway home, TRCA will also be running a mini bio blitz! We'll be recording what we see and submitting our observation to the City Nature Challenge 2026: Toronto and GTA iNaturalist project.
To participate in the mini bio blitz, you will need to bring a data-enabled device with the iNaturalist app installed. iNaturalist is a platform that puts nature at your fingertips, allowing anyone to record and share nature observations and contribute to biodiversity science. Additional data-enabled devices will be available to borrow for the activity.

About The Meadoway
The Meadoway is transforming a hydro corridor in Scarborough into a vibrant 16-kilometre stretch of urban greenspace and meadowlands that will become one of Canada’s largest linear urban parks. The Meadoway will connect 7 river and ravine systems, 15 parks, 16 kilometres of trail, 13 neighbourhoods, over 200 hectares of meadow, and more than 1,000 diverse species of flora and fauna. Over the next few years, this site will become a place filled with butterflies, birds and wildflowers – a rich meadow landscape realized on a scale never before seen in Toronto.
This innovative city-building initiative will also connect schools, businesses, hospitals and trails. Cyclists and pedestrians will soon be able to travel from the heart of downtown Toronto to Rouge National Urban Park without ever leaving nature.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to revitalize the natural landscape and change how we move through our city.
The Meadoway is being led by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and the Toronto and Region Conservation Foundation in partnership with the City of Toronto and Hydro One, and is made possible through the generous support of the Weston Family Foundation.
