Let's Beat Breast Cancer! 2026
About this Event
Every year, approximately 42,000 women in the United States lose their lives to breast cancer. While not all cases can be prevented, research continues to show that lifestyle choices can play an important role in reducing risk.
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) created the Let's Beat Breast Cancer campaign to raise awareness about four evidence-based lifestyle factors associated with breast cancer prevention:
• Limiting alcohol consumption
• Engaging in regular physical activity
• Choosing more plant-based foods
• Maintaining a healthy weight
We're proud to announce that Peoria has once again been selected as one of fewer than 50 communities worldwide to host a Let's Beat Breast Cancer Event in 2026.
Join us for this free, family-friendly community event featuring inspiring speakers, breast cancer survivor stories, healthy food samples, community resources, giveaways, and the high-energy rhythms of Southside Steel Drumline. Together, we'll "beat the drum" for prevention awareness and celebrate the power of community.
This one-hour event takes place during the final Peoria RiverFront Market of the season, making it the perfect opportunity to support an important cause and enjoy one last visit to one of Central Illinois' favorite community traditions.
Whether you're interested in prevention, supporting a loved one, learning more about healthy living, or simply enjoying a morning of inspiration and connection, we invite you to join us.
Last year, Peoria brought together healthcare professionals, survivors, advocates, and community members in a meaningful way. This year, let's do it again and show why our city was selected to continue being part of this important global movement.
RSVP today, mark your calendar, and join us as we make some noise for breast cancer prevention!
