On Saturday, August 22, 2026, the community will gather at the Breslin Center in East Lansing to recognize a hometown legacy that has inspired generations and continues to make a difference close to home.
From his beginnings at the YMCA of Lansing to becoming a global icon, Magic Johnson's journey reflects the power of opportunity, perseverance, and community. The Legacy of Magic Gala will celebrate his connection to Lansing and the lasting impact he and his family have made on generations of local youth and families.
Proceeds from the event will support YMCA scholarships and facility improvements, helping ensure that future generations have access to the same opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive
