This year, we are proud to honor Ms. Joan Nelson, Founding Executive Director of the Allen Neighborhood Center. For nearly three decades, Ms. Nelson has advanced neighborhood health, food access, youth development, and community‑driven revitalization. Her leadership has shaped transformative initiatives - including Allen Place - which have expanded access to affordable housing, wellness services, and fresh, local food for Eastside residents.
