Channeling the spirit of a late-1960s "happening", Lefty’s Café Wah Wah was an eclectic jam night and open mic. Launched in 2013 at Club Redd, the Thursday night fixture kept the music alive until 3am before later moving to Church, running strong until the entire music scene was brought to a halt by the lockdown.
The night was a melting pot for local underground tribes, passionate music fans, and musicians spanning generations. Performers could take the stage solo or back themselves with the house band, led by Paul "Lefty" Wright. True to its community roots, the open mic welcomed and nurtured new talent, while also serving as a pitstop for touring independent bands.
There was only ever one requirement: A Good Vibe.
