🧠 Lecture: "Prof. Richard Wolff: The US, China & Future of Capitalism"
🎤 Speaker: Professor Richard D. Wolff
Join us for a provocative evening with renowned economist Professor Richard D. Wolff as he explores how five centuries of capitalism have brought us to a critical global turning point. From the rise of Dutch, British, and American empires to today’s growing instability, Professor Wolff will examine how the employer/employee system at the core of capitalism produces deep inequality, political corruption, and recurring crises.
Wolff will contrast the trajectory of US-style private capitalism with China’s evolving model of “socialism” — a powerful hybrid of private and state enterprises under strong government supervision. Is Chinese socialism building a new global empire, or the first truly multilateral world system? And what happens if both countries must confront a next stage of socialism: democratizing workplaces through worker cooperatives?
Richard D. Wolff is Professor of Economics Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Visiting Professor at the New School in New York City, and co-founder of Democracy at Work, where he hosts the nationally syndicated show Economic Update.
