🧠 Lecture: "How We Discovered the Universe"

🎤 Speaker: Professor Jeremy Tinker

Join us for a captivating journey through 6,000 years of cosmic discovery with Professor Jeremy Tinker, professor of observational cosmology at The Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics and the Department of Physics at New York University.

From the first humans stepping out of the cave and gazing at the night sky, to Copernicus reimagining our place in the solar system, to Edwin Hubble revealing the vastness of galaxies, this talk traces six fundamental observations that reshaped our understanding of the universe.

Professor Tinker will connect these milestones to one of the most surprising discoveries in modern science: the unexpected microwave radiation detected in 1964 that permeates all of space. Together, these clues form a compelling picture of a homogeneous cosmos that is expanding and that began in a remarkable event we now call the Big Bang.

Come explore how curiosity, careful observation, and breakthrough ideas helped us uncover the story of the universe.
