The Free Peoples of Russia House is honored to host Lech Wałęsa, former President of Poland and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, for an evening of reflection, insight, and perspective.
At each of our events you can expect a warm atmosphere, an ability to network as well as complimentary hors d'oeuvres and refreshments. RSVP is required.
Drawing on his extraordinary personal journey—from the Solidarity movement and the fall of Communism in Central Europe to leadership at a pivotal moment in European history—President Wałęsa will reminisce about defining moments of the past while offering a seasoned, pragmatic outlook on the challenges facing Europe and the democratic world today. With the clarity of experience and the authority of lived history, he will reflect on leadership, civic courage, democratic resilience, and what lessons the 20th century still holds for navigating an uncertain future.
Lech Wałęsa is a Polish statesman and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who led the Solidarity movement that helped end Communist rule in Central Europe. He served as Poland’s President from 1990 to 1995 and remains a global voice on democracy, civic courage, and democratic transition.
