Join Chrissy Anderson in this 8-week Quilting Course to make a beautiful Bear Paw Quilt (best for seasoned quilters) or a Floating Star with an alternating Nine-Patch (best for those new to quilting).
Beginners: Although this course is great for a beginner quilter, strong sewing skills are a must. We also HIGHLY recommend attending our Quilting Essentials class which we run prior to each Beginner Quilt Course. This is a single class that ensures you get a confident start in the level of cutting, sewing, and pressing that quilting requires.

Floating Star for Beginners:
Chrissy will help you modify the pattern with a Floating Star/Alternating Nine-Patch combo that is beautiful but less technical. It is strongly recommended that beginners choose a small size; such as a wall hanging or throw.
Course Schedule:
Runs 8 Mondays 6:30-8:30pm
January 12th - March 16th
(No Class on MLK Day or President's Day)
If at the close of the 8 weeks, you haven’t completed your quilt top, register for Open Studio on 3/23 to finish it up.
Course Breakdown:
January 12th - Overview of accurate cutting and then we’ll begin cutting. Be sure to have a fresh blade.
January 19th - No Class - MLK Day
Jan 26th - Review Seam Allowance, Pinning, and Pressing for accurate piecing. Begin making our HSTs.
Feb 2nd - Finish trimming up the HSTs if needed. Piece the bear paws.
Feb 9th - Add the sashing to complete the bear paw block.
Feb 16th - No Class- President's Day
Feb 23rd - Make the first round of the chain block.
March 2nd - Second round of the chain block.
March 9th - Third round of the chain block.
March 16th - Sew the blocks together to finish your quilt top.
Tools, Materials, Supplies:
*Quilters bring their own fabric & tools. You may bring your own machine or use one of ours. Although some tools and supplies may be available to use in a pinch, attendees should purchase and bring the following to each class.
Tools Needed:
• Rotary cutter: 45mm
• Acrylic Grid Ruler: 4” - 6” X 24”
• Self-Healing Cutting Mat: 18” X 24”
• A shorter 6” X 12” ruler is nice to have, but not required
*the specific sizes are important to be able to cut the fabric yardage.

Fabric: Upon registration, you’ll receive an email with fabric requirements and basic fabric information. This pattern has the option for fat quarters or yardage.
