Learn an Irish Tune a Week ClassBuild your repertoire of Irish tunes in the Learn an Irish Tune a Week class with Heather Lewin and Christopher Chan.
Winter 2026 Dates: Wednesdays starting January 7, 2026 through April 29, 2026.
Time: 5:30pm to 6:30pm Central Time
Location: CelticMKE Center, 1532 N Wauwatosa Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53213
Cost: $20 per class for registered IFSM students; $25 per class non-registration (enroll online)
Focus: Melody players
Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
Note: Beginners should know the basics of playing their instruments:
Note names and fingerings for G, D, and A major keys
Instrument specific techniques (breathing for whistle/flute students, bowing for fiddlers, picking for banjo/mandolin/guitar players)

Whether you're just starting to learn Irish music or want to beef up your session repertoire, our Learn an Irish Tune a Week class will add a new tune to your list each week! Fiddle instructor Heather Lewin will break down each tune to help you get the music under your fingers and to explore ornamentation and variation. Christopher Chan will be on hand to give chord choices for guitar, bouzouki, and other chordal instruments.
