NEP has offered a series of racial-affinity based LFE offerings as a recognition that people have different kinds of learning, growth and healing to do based on our racial identities in a system of racial oppression. Dismantling systemic oppression requires all of us working across identities towards a system that works for everyone - and along the way, we have different types of healing, support, and learning to do in order to work together effectively towards that end.
This workshop - Working and Leading Towards Equity in White Affinity - is designed to support leadership development from the “inside-out”. Participants will be supported to consider how we can see, engage, and act in fresh, new ways with increased agency, purpose, and efficacy. We offer some foundational ideas for how to approach ‘equity work’ as white-identified people - specifically how we:
- See how we have been shaped individually and how our systems have been created to uphold and perpetuate systemic oppression
- Engage with others in ways that counteract White Supremacy Culture and create opportunities for more liberatory collaboration
- Act in ways that transform power and support us to work both in our own racial group and across difference as co-conspirators
[If you or a teammate identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or Person of Color (BIPOC)/Person of the Global Majority please register for our Leading Towards Equity for BIPOC/PGM | Oct 24]
Virtual Workshop Overview
We are excited to offer Center for Equity Leadership Virtual Workshops – 3-hour interactive sessions where participants will engage with a single focused topic, connect with other equity leaders around the world, and gain new tools to add to their equity practice. Workshops are bite-sized nuggets of knowledge, frameworks and tools that are delivered in a highly engaging way. They are great for:
- People who are new to equity leadership and want to dip their toes in before registering for a course
- Seasoned practitioners of equity and rebel leadership who are looking to connect with other leaders outside of their organizations
- People who have attended or are currently attending a Center for Equity Leadership course and want to supplement their course work
This workshop will be delivered in a live, 3-hour interactive learning session conducted online in Zoom. Attend the live session with facilitators and fellow participants and gain new knowledge and skills to bring back to your own context. Participants receive electronic versions of all resources and tools.
We are intensely focused on humanizing our virtual spaces. We focus on interactivity and connection (these workshops are not webinars), frequent screen and body breaks, and attending to learning, practice, and healing in community with people around the world.
Accessibility
We provide an advance draft of our slide deck 24 hours before the session and enable live transcription and closed captions during the live Zoom session. Our sessions are recorded (absent any technical difficulties) and can be accessed for up to 30 days after the course concludes.
You will receive a password-protected Zoom link and any other pre-reads and resources prior to the meeting via email. Please add [email protected] to your contacts to ensure you receive all course communications.
