Layers of Detail - Encountering the Collections

Last year, Comics Youth SCIO was invited to respond to the University of Dundee’s museum and archive collections. A group of young people aged 18-25 were introduced to selected parts of the collections, including comics art and artists’ books, and invited to respond.

Of particular interest to this group was our extensive collection of original comics art. Many of the pieces used transparent acetate layers to add text or colour to the underlying artwork. Participants chose to use this method as a unifying framing device for the work that they created in response.

This exhibition features new work created by the project participants as well as some of the original comics art that helped to inspire them.

The exhibition is in the foyer of the Dalhousie Building at is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. There is no need to bring your Eventbrite ticket when you come.
