Founded as Associated Talking Pictures and later renamed after the location of its main facilities, Ealing Studios became one of the most cherished film companies in the UK. While its classic comedies and war films are still popular favourites today, much of its output remains unfairly forgotten. In this course we will explore the company’s history from its founding in 1929 up to its demise in the late 1950s. From musicals and costume spectaculars to crime thrillers and social dramas, there’s much more to Ealing than you may think, as we’ll discover through a mix of complete films and numerous extracts.
