About this Event

Hidden Gems from novel research: fascinating discoveries by local authors

Find out why Brunel's SS Great Eastern beats the Titanic, and why you can't trust early photography. From floating islands to Treasure Island and more besides – join four established local authors as they share the three most interesting things they discovered while writing their novels, most of which share a strong local connection.

Featuring: historical novelist Ali Bacon, cosy crime writer and historian Jean Burnett, Heather Child, whose new speculative novel is out right now and Heather Jo Reed whose crime novels and thrillers are set in and around Bristol.

I'm attaching a group photo and a collage of some of the books we'll be talking about.

There's more about each of us on our shared website Just Write – a group of Bristol writers

JEAN BURNETT Historical fiction and a cosy crIme mystery set in Bristol

HJ (Heather Jo) Reed Crime and thrillers set in Bristol

HEATHER CHILD Speculative fiction, Brunel connections, new book out in March

ALI BACON Historical fiction inspired by real lives, including writer Robert Louis Stevenson
