LAW OF DESIRE - Pablo, a gay theater and film director finds himself caught in a love triangle between one man who doesn’t return Pablo’s love as passionately and another (Antonio Banderas) who becomes an obsessive lover after a one-night stand. Carmen Maura plays Pablo’s transgender sister, an unsuccessful actress who is caring for her lesbian lover’s daughter. In a tragicomedy that morphs into a melodrama, including a few other genres in between, Almodóvar plays with the range of desires found in art, family, and love.
