Launch Event for Ashley Muskett's MANY THE MONSTERS
About this Event
Join us to celebrate the release of Ashley Muskett's debut novel, MANY THE MONSTERS! Ashley will be in conversation with Gretchen Powell Fox, author of the Best of #BookTok trilogy. This will be a magical night!
ABOUT MANY THE MONSTERS:
Tyre's one act of rebellion has always been refusing to fall in love.
He prefers to hang on to the superhuman strength and speed that comes with being a cursed beast. When people enchanted by fairy magic, like Tyre, start falling prey to a mysterious force called 'The Inimical' who is killing them to siphon their magic, Tyre's family is panicked and starts pressuring him to find someone to break the curse. But when Tyre's 15-year-old cousin Maddie gets involved in a situation she can't control and is kidnapped to a mysterious and magical school an entire country away, The Inimical is suddenly the least of their problems. As The Inimical haunts his dreams with strange demands, and Maddie's life hangs in the balance, Tyre's love for Calla grows but so does the nagging suspicion that she's just a little too good to be true
ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Ashley Muskett is a clinical psychologist and a lifelong lover of folklore and fairytales from around the world. She used to love going to the library in her neighborhood and curling up for hours in the folk and fairytales section, so in all her work you'll find threads of a lot of classic folklore. She also love mysteries and figuring things out! She and her dad used to sit together every night when she was growing up and read two chapters of a Boxcar Children mystery. They would then spend several minutes "discussing the case" and coming up with theories. Her love of mysteries has never gone away and you'll also always find a puzzle to unravel in her books.
When she's not reading, writing, or psychologist-ing she loves exploring new foods and restaurants (which she attribute to her Cuban heritage, food=love), hanging out with her husband, or their large extended families, or spending time with her best friends.
Gretchen Powell Fox grew up with her head in the clouds and her nose buried in books. Now she crafts fantastical stories, along with the fiery heroes destined to change them for the better. Her creative process involves sleeping fitfully and consuming copious amounts of Sour Patch Kids. You can usually find her crying when she’s happy, sad, mad, or excited; singing along to Taylor Swift; eating xiao lóng bao; or strumming her ukelele. Gretchen lives with her husband and two wild, wonderful children in northern Virginia. Visit her online at GretchenPowellFox.com and follow her @GretchenWritesBooks.
