About this Event
What if laughing with the stories of our life could help empower our narratives?
Every Monday, 6-8 PM EST From June 1-July 6
18+
A six-week interactive workshop where storytelling, play, and neuroscience come together to help you rediscover your natural sense of humor. No performance or writing experience required.
Each week, we’ll spend 2 hours exploring how the brain responds to humor, why laughter is such a powerful tool for emotional regulation, and how play can unlock humorous perspectives from your life stories. Through guided games and storytelling exercises, you’ll learn how to uncover the funny, human moments already woven into your life experiences.
Each week, you will learn to write 250–500 word moments of your life and workshop them in a safe and understanding setting.
You will find your authentic voice, learn how humor naturally emerges, and discover how to reframe your stories to support your brain, creativity, and well-being right now.
You’ll connect with others in a safe, supportive space and build community through shared laughter. The paradox of this workshop is the less you try to be funny, the funnier it will be. And the bonus is, grammar will only be looked at on YOUR request.
About the instructor: Heather Winslow is a 4th year Interdisciplinary PhD student, mom, comedian, storyteller and founder of the Laughing Brain Initiative non-profit 501(c3). She has dedicated her research to the neuroscience of humor perception and how it can help us restory the narratives of our lives to enrich our stories and laugh through the hardships.
