Latino Outdoors NYC | Astoria Environmental Justice Walk
About this Event
Join us for a leisurely walk along the Astoria waterfront. Along the way, we’ll learn about community efforts to address environmental justice around land use and two power plants. We’ll even check out the last visible evidence of a historic creek!
The route will be 3 miles, from the northern tip of Astoria and ending at the Astoria Costco. The route will be paved and relatively flat with one large hill halfway through.
There will be bathrooms both at the beginning and end of the walk, with nearby access to bus routes to return to the start point (if needed).
Free parking is available on the street near the start point or inside the parking lot at Astoria Park. It is approximately 1 mile from the Astoria Park parking lot to the starting point.
Snacks will be provided, and we'll be raffling off two environmental justice books to attendees!
