About Jun Kaneko
Born in Nagoya, Japan, in 1942, Jun Kaneko emerged as a pivotal figure during America's Contemporary Ceramics Movement. A resident at the Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Art in 1967, Kaneko formed a lifelong friendship with Rudy Autio. After studying with legendary artists including Peter Voulkos, Paul Soldner, and Jerry Rothman in California, Kaneko went on to teach at prestigious institutions including Scripps College, Rhode Island School of Design, and Cranbrook Academy of Art. His monumental ceramic sculptures and innovative glazing techniques have redefined the boundaries of clay as an artistic medium, earning him recognition in major museums and collections worldwide.
