Helping students cross from Novice to Intermediate in all four skills. Especially key for 100-level instructors. Bring your best ideas
About this Event

Description:

Description:

After digging into our diagnostic grid data, this session zeroes in on one specific group: students working to cross from Novice into Intermediate, across listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is especially important for instructors and supervisors over 100-level classes.

Bring your best classroom activities — the ones you've actually used and seen work for getting students over that hump. We'll spend part of the session pooling ideas as a group, so come ready to share (or steal).

Troy will also walk through what's specifically needed to reach Intermediate, reviewing the ACTFL major-level criteria using the 2024 revised Proficiency Guidelines.

This year's LARC Proficiency Lineup:
October 21 — Crossing the Intermediate Border in Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing
November 11 — Crossing the Advanced Border in Listening/Speaking
December 9 — Crossing the Advanced Border in Reading/Writing
January 27 — Crossing the Superior Border in Listening/Speaking
February 24 — Crossing the Superior Border in Reading/Writing
March 24 — The Role of Grammar in a Proficiency-Based Curriculum
