Regency fashion immediately makes us think of Jane Austen's heroines from Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility.
High fashion influenced by French styles may have been big in London but what about women in Lancashire? How did they follow the latest trends? What did the great and the good of Lancashire's fashionable ladies wear?
In this new talk, curator Scott Schiavone looks at Regency women's fashions through Lancashire's Hulton family, an important regional family throughout the Georgian and Victorian period, including the white cotton dress that is on display in the Style and Sensibility exhibition at Judges Lodgings, on loan from The Harris.
Part of the Style and Sensibility exhibition and to mark Jane Austen's 250th birthday.
