Lampshade Making Workshop
Part of our Pavilion Summer Sessions, this workshop is all about unwinding at the end of the week — a chance to gather with others, enjoy a drink, and spend a couple of hours making something both beautiful and practical.
With a glass in hand and a gentle, sociable atmosphere around you, you’ll be guided step by step by expert upholsterer Heather Breed as you create your own drum lampshade. There’s no rush and no pressure — just time to enjoy the process, learn something new, and see your piece come together.
You can choose from a selection of fabrics on the night, or bring along something of your own to make a shade that feels especially personal — whether it’s chosen to complement a room or simply something you love.
These evenings are as much about the experience as the making. There’s a natural ease to them — conversation flowing, laughter here and there, and that unmistakable feeling of a summer evening spent well.
You’re very welcome to come with friends or arrive on your own; it’s a warm and friendly space either way. And if you feel like continuing the evening afterwards, there’s always the option of heading just across the road for a drink to round things off.
Heather brings a wealth of experience to her teaching, along with a calm and supportive approach that makes the process feel accessible to everyone, whatever your starting point.
A simple, creative way to begin your weekend — unhurried, sociable, and quietly inspiring.
