One year after opening its doors in Soho, LALA celebrates its first anniversary with “LALA’s Friends”, a one night only eight-hands dinner that brings together friends from Hong Kong’s French culinary community.
On Wednesday, 11 March, Chef Franckelie Laloum and co-founder Michael Larkin will host the anniversary evening alongside Chefs Julien Tongourian of L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Hong Kong, Vicky Lau of TATE Dining Room, and Joris Rousseau of Feuille. Together, the four chefs will present a collaborative menu inspired by LALA’s modern French brasserie identity, reimagining the restaurant’s most popular dishes through four distinct culinary perspectives.
Representing different expressions of French cuisine in Hong Kong, the guest chefs bring experience from some of the city’s most respected kitchens. Tongourian leads the Joël Robuchon kitchens in Hong Kong and Macau, overseeing restaurants that have held three Michelin stars for more than a decade while continuing the culinary legacy of the late Joël Robuchon. Lau is the chef owner of the two Michelin starred TATE Dining Room and also leads several concept driven culinary ventures in Hong Kong. Rousseau is the Executive Chef of Feuille, the contemporary French restaurant by David Toutain that celebrates seasonality and locally sourced ingredients through a vegetable forward approach to French cuisine.
Since opening in February 2025, LALA has established itself as a modern French brasserie where hospitality sits at the centre of the experience. Together, Laloum’s cooking and Larkin’s focus on warm, attentive service have created a restaurant guests return to regularly, whether for lunch, dinner, or a seat at the bar.
The anniversary menu unfolds across a sequence of dishes inspired by LALA favourites, beginning with Crab Egg Mimosa, Chicken Liver Parfait, Tomato Tart, and Yellowtail Escabèche. The meal continues with Grilled Lobster with Maltaise sabayon and XO sauce, followed by Pigeon with foie gras and cabbage, before finishing with Rum Baba “JM VSOP” with coconut ice cream and exotic marmalade. The dinner is priced at HKD 1,488 per person.
“LALA’s Friends” is a one night only celebration of collaboration, hospitality, and the shared foundations of French cuisine in Hong Kong. As the restaurant enters its second year, LALA continues to evolve while staying true to its founding idea: bringing the joy of French dining into a space that feels welcoming, lively, and part of everyday life in the city.
