Known for his bold programming and artistic vision, Artistic Director finalist Michael Lewanski leads a powerful and eclectic program that bridges cultures, eras, and emotions. The concert begins with Carlos Chávez’s energetic Sinfonia India, followed by Jessie Montgomery’s luminous Hymn for Everyone. Acclaimed violinist MingHuan Xu takes center stage in John Corigliano’s haunting Red Violin Chaconne, a work of cinematic beauty and emotional depth. The concert concludes with the striking wit and youthful brilliance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1—a landmark debut from one of the 20th century’s most iconic voices.
