Reduce the risk of wildfire damaging your home, join us to learn about fire in Florida and Firewise landscaping recommendations.
About this Event

Increase your fire knowledge and resiliency in your home landscape with UF/IFAS Polk County Extension.


During this class, participants will learn about:
  • Florida's fire dependent ecosystems, species, and habitats
  • The differences between prescibed fire and wildfire
  • Why land managers in Polk County use prescribed fire

and

  • Defensible space in the landscape
  • Landscape design and maintenance recommendations
  • Species to avoid near the home


This is one of two classes held in August. We hope you’ll join us at the location that is most convenient for you. Each class will be one-hour long, from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM.



Please Note: Printed Materials "Add-on"

During check out, you may see an optional Add-On for printed materials. You may choose this add-on if you prefer reference materials be printed for you to take home.

All materials will be made available, at no cost, electronically. After the event, keep an eye on your email for the links to the digital materials.
