In 1824, American Revolutionary War hero the marquis de Lafayette visited the United States of America for a Grand Tour of all 24 states, including a historic visit to York. Against the backdrop of a tumultuous election, a beloved hero of the American Revolution returned to America for the first time in 40 years. Join public historian Elizabeth Reese in a lecture that follows Lafayette's tour, highlighting the important people, events and legacy of America's favorite fighting Frenchman. This program will be in person at the History Center Museum with a broadcast of the presenter as she is out of state. Additionally the History Center will highlight pieces and stories tied to Lafayette's time in York.
