Kelly Krieg-Sigman Presents
The Woman. The House. The Story
She came here in 1859 as a school teacher from upstate New York. She married Gideon Hixon, one of the richest lumber barons in the region. Yet the story of Ellen Pannell Hixon, her home and the role she played in the history of La Crosse has remained relatively untold. Until now. This year's Ladies Day Luncheon presentation will feature a multimedia "tour" of the historic Hixon House, with live commentary by Kelly, tour coordinator for the La Crosse County Historical Society. Using the house as backdrop, Ellen's philanthropic legacy will be explored and celebrated - a legacy still being honored and moved forward today.
