Join East Coast Hikers this Labor Day for one of Richmond’s most iconic urban-nature loops: Buttermilk Trail + Belle Isle + North Bank Trail. Red, white, and trail shoes — let’s celebrate the holiday with river views, shaded woods, and a little rocky fun!

📍 Meet / Parking: 4190 Riverside Dr, Richmond, VA 23225
🥾 Distance: ~6.5 miles (loop)
📈 Difficulty: Moderate (some rocky/uneven terrain)
🚶‍♀️ Pace: Moderate (we’ll regroup as needed)
⏱️ Estimated hike time: ~2.5–3 hours (includes quick regroup/photo stops)

Trail Direction (we’ll follow this order)
Reedy Creek Trailhead → Buttermilk Trail (east) → Dry Rocks → Belle Isle → cross back to the north side → North Bank Trail → Boulevard Bridge connection → reconnect to Buttermilk → back to Reedy Creek.
🚻 Bathrooms: Available near the meetup area and on Belle Isle during the hike.
✅ Bring: plenty of water (electrolytes encouraged), snacks, sunscreen/bug spray, hat/sunglasses, sturdy shoes (rocky spots), optional trekking poles.
👕 Optional theme: Wear a little red/white/blue or your favorite patriotic gear! 🇺🇸
🐶 Dogs: Welcome on leash
🚴 Heads-up: Shared-use trails—watch for mountain bikers, especially on Buttermilk.
