LA Residents & Riverside County CCW Initial Course

The Los Angeles Residents & Riverside County CCW Initial Course (16 Hours) is designed to meet the requirements set forth under California Penal Code § 26165 for the issuance of a California Concealed Carry Weapon permit. This course is intended for applicants completing their initial CCW permit process through LAPD or Riverside County.
This is not simply a minimum qualification course. Our goal is to train and develop responsible, confident, and efficient concealed carriers who understand not only how to carry a firearm, but how to safely and effectively use it under stress and in real-world situations.
This course begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. The first day consists primarily of classroom instruction, while the second day includes the live-fire range portion, practical drills, and firearms qualification. This schedule is ideal for students who prefer smaller groups or may not be available on weekends.
Throughout this 16-hour course, students will receive instruction on:
Firearm safety and safe firearm handling
Shooting fundamentals and marksmanship
Drawing and presentation techniques
Concealed carry considerations and mindset
Safe storage and transportation of firearms
California laws regarding concealed carry and prohibited locations
Laws regarding the permissible use of force and lethal force in self-defense
Interacting with law enforcement while carrying
Mental health and mental health resources as required by California law
Live-fire exercises and firearms qualification with each firearm listed on the permit application
The course includes classroom instruction as well as live-fire range training designed to improve firearm handling, confidence, accuracy, and defensive firearm efficiency.
Students will train with the firearms they intend to place on their CCW permit and will be guided through practical drills intended to build safe and effective concealed carry habits, as well as complete the qualification required by LAPD or Riverside County.
What You'll Need for Class
Valid California Driver License or Identification Card
All firearms you intend to qualify with and place on your CCW permit
Fill out the wavier and information sent via email prior to class.
Minimum of 150 rounds of ammunition (300 rounds recommended for additional training opportunities, but not required)
Eye protection
Ear protection (rentals available if needed)
Holster (not required, but strongly encouraged)
Notebook and something to write with for classroom instruction
Lunch and plenty of water
Please ensure all firearms are transported in accordance with California law.
