Découvrez le travail de coulisses derrière la création d'une collection patrimoniale et quelques-un des objets étonnants qui composent la collection Wings.

L’idée de la collection Wings est née lorsque Gilbert Lee, copropriétaire de Wings, a mandaté son ami Jean-Philippe Riopel, guide de Montréal et muséologue, de créer une collection constituée de plus de 5000 lots d’objets liés à l’histoire de la famille Lee, celle de Wings, et celle du Quartier chinois. Ce travail serait porté par la nouvelle OBNL Objets de Mémoire, groupe d’action muséologique, et ses collaborateur·ices. Après 4 ans de travail acharné, la collection Wings a récemment été cédée au MEM par les frères Garnet et Gilbert Lee. Dans sa présentation, Jean-Philippe Riopel nous parle de son parcours et de l’incroyable histoire de la création et de la patrimonialisation de la collection Wings, tout en nous présentant quelques objets phares.

Discover the back-end work behind the creation of a heritage collection and a few of the jaw-dropping objects that make up the Wings Collection.

The idea of the Wings Collection sprouted when Gilbert Lee, co-owner of Wings, mandated his friend Jean-Philippe Riopel, who’s also a Montréal guide and museologist, to create a collection made up of 5000 lots of objects closely tied to the history of the Lee family, of Wings, and of Montréal’s Chinatown. This work would be taken on by new non-profit Objets de Mémoire, groupe d’action muséologique, and its collaborators. After 4 years of meticulous work, the Wings Collection has been handed to the MEM by the brothers Garnet and Gilbert Lee. In this talk, Jean-Philippe Riopel shares his journey and walks us through the incredible story of the Wings Collection’s creation and its preservation as a heritage collection, while also presenting some of its most interesting objects.
