"Grow what you can, harvest what you need."It's time for another working bee and potluck!
Come along at 3pm for a quick planning meeting for a 3.30 start and join in the collective management of your local common farm. Some of the things we will work on are:
- Turning the compost
- Pruning, weeding, and clearing pathways
- Apply liquid fertiliser and manage insects
- Plant seedlings
- Save seeds
- Mulch
- Harvest
Our farms are bound only by three simple principles:
1. Nobody owns the garden.
This garden and the food grown in it is the collective responsibility of the community that lives around it. It is a part of the commons. There is no owner, no boss, just a community making collective decisions about their local neighbourhood.
2. The food is free.
The food grown in this garden isn’t owned, so it can never be sold. It’s free for people who need it—and the people who need it most should take the most. Nobody makes any money from this garden.
3. Mistakes are welcome.
Gardens are forgiving. Nothing really matters that much. It’s better to garden and make mistakes than not garden at all."
Everyone is welcome!
Please bring a hat, some water and if you are able, some food to share.
If you'd like to join the composting roster (helping regularly turn the compost) or the watering roster (currently most days are covered) please let us know.
