Kundalini Yoga - Summer Solstice Special Event
The Summer Solstice is longest day of the year. It serves as a half way mark, between the time we "planted our intentions" in the spring and to when we "harvest" them in the fall. It's an opportunity to look inside and see what we may be still holding on to, "the weeds that are growing" that are keeping us from bringing those intentions into full fruition.
As with every solstice/equinox celebration, we will be writing our intentions - what is that you want to get rid of that is holding you back, do you even know? Maybe you need some clarity! What is it that you want to bring more fully into the life that you are creating! We will keep focus on those intentions as we continue the class with our yoga, 45-minute sound meditation with gongs and bowls, and our meditation to bring you more fully in line with your creations, prosperity and good fortunes. Then we will end the class with an intention burning.
Class is $20.00, or 2 punches on your 11-class pass!
Kundalini Yoga is the original of the twenty-two schools of yoga and is considered the "mother yoga." The word "kundalini" means awareness, and manifesting the hidden potential of that awareness. Kundalini Yoga works to balance the energy centers (chakras) and emotional body, as well as your entire nervous and glandular systems.
Sonja received her 220 hour certification in Kundalini Yoga in 2015 and has been teaching ever since. Sonja brings her knowledge of working with the energy centers in the body and Chakra System into every class she teaches.
Each class is chosen through higher guidance to provide the most benefit to those practicing with her that day. No class is ever the same. Some classes are more meditative, where students will hold postures for longer periods of times practicing a breath technique, mudra, or drishti (eye focus), or all of the above. Some classes are more physical where the student will get a little bit of a workout.
All classes consist of a Kriya (a complete set of exercises/postures), and at least 10 minutes of deep relaxation while Sonja plays the gongs, as well as a 3-11 minute meditation. It is up to the student as to what they get out of their practice, Sonja will hold the space and provide guidance, but the student decides the benefits of the practice, by doing the practice.
Sonja is a KRI certified yoga instructor, delivering the experience of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan, Ph.D. Kundalini Yoga was not taught publicly until 1968 with Yogi Bhajan came to the west. Today this technology is practiced and taught all over the world!
