About this Event

We're teaming up with the incredible humans at Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust to help pot up trees and shrubs for restoration projects around the state. After you register, we will send you a waiver via email. Be sure to complete it and tell them Kula sent you!

It's a Tree Potting Party With Kula Cloth!

Join us for a day that’s all about giving back to the landscapes we love. On Friday, March 28, 2025, from 10 AM - 1 PM, we’ll gather at the Greenway's Native Plant Nursery to pot young trees and shrubs destined for restoration projects throughout the Puget Sound region.

This isn’t just a stewardship project—it’s a hands-on celebration of nature and community that’s all about making a real impact. No matter your experience level, this is your chance to roll up your sleeves, connect with others, and do something that truly makes a difference—and we’re going to have a blast doing it!

Why It Matters

Every pot you fill is a step toward a healthier planet. These trees and shrubs will grow strong in restoration sites across the region, providing shade, clean air, and habitat for generations to come. Plus, there’s something deeply satisfying about getting your hands dirty and knowing you’re making a real impact.

What to Expect:

  • To play in the dirt (yep, you have permission)
  • Bad plant puns (come prepared!)
  • A few surprise goodies (because we love you)
  • Photo ops with your new BFFs and a few shrubs

What You’ll Need

We’ve got the gloves! Please bring your energy, enthusiasm and maybe a friend or two along with:

  • Sturdy, close-toed shoes
  • Long pants
  • Rain gear and layers
  • A water bottle and snacks (because potting trees can be a workout)

Where to Meet to Get Dirty With Us!

Driving DirectionsDrivers: Please read driving instructions for parking.

Please park at Tibbets Beach parking lot in Lake Sammamish State Park.

Google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/yiccno1nzz72

From I-90, take Exit 15. Follow signs for Lake Sammamish State Park, and go north on 17th Ave NW. Turn left onto NW Sammamish Rd. The main entrance to Lake Sammamish State Park will be on your right in about one-half mile. Enter the park and take your first left into the large parking lot. **You will then walk to the nursery. Walk out of the parking lot back towards the entrance turning right, and then take a left into the parks maintenance area. Walk straight towards the sheds and the ranger's house. The nursery is located next to the Maintenance Barn and Rangers’ Houses—look for Greenway event leaders and signs.

The Greenway Native Plant Nursery is home to nearly 30,000 native trees and shrubs. From the very start of their journey with the Greenway Trust, these trees are cared for by volunteers. At the nursery, volunteers pot these trees and shrubs, and after they have grown in our nursery for about two years, volunteers will plant these plants again, this time in their final homes in urban forests, parks, and open spaces throughout the Greenway landscape.
