Join the Issaquah Alps Trails Club and WA State Parks on a special holiday restoration event—an Easter Holly Hunt! We’ll be working to eradicate European Holly on Squak Mountain. This friendly-appearing plant is actually a Class-C noxious W**d, with its dense shrubbery stifling our Western WA native plants if left unchecked. Join Anne Newcomb, our restoration extraordinaire, and the knowledgeable Washington State Parks Cascade Foothills Park Ranger Ellen Moline on an afternoon Easter Holly Hunt—no basket required!WHEN AND WHERE:
Date: Sunday, April 20th
Time: 1 PM - 4 PM
Where: Squak Mountain Trail Parking at May Valley Loop Trailhead. We will meet in the parking lot and walk up the hill together on the trail with tools.
WHAT TO BRING:
Bring your own gloves if you have them. There will be gloves available for those who don't have their own. Please dress in layers and in clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Old denim is perfect to protect your skin from pricklies! Closed-toed shoes are a requirement, long sleeves, and pants are recommended. Be sure to bring a bottle of water and any snacks you might need for the afternoon.
