Know Your Rights as a Renter

Practically all of us will be renters at some point, but almost none of us know even basic information about a tenant’s rights and the laws that protect us. This presentation from the Consumer Rights Project at Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada will go over the life of a tenancy from beginning to end and give you the tools you need to protect yourself. Topics will include:

• Issues you might face when looking for a new apartment, such as signing a lease and paying a security deposit
• Problems that can arise after you move in, like getting repairs made or needing to terminate a lease early
• Legal issues that happen at move out, including fighting an eviction and getting a security deposit back
