Knittaz with Attitude: The Blackpool Tapestry
About this Event
As the Bayeux Tapestry makes its long-awaited return to Britain after almost a thousand years, Knittaz with Attitude are taking inspiration from this legendary piece of textile storytelling for Lightpool.
We’re creating our own epic tapestry telling the history of Blackpool - from seaside holidays and the Tower to illuminations, entertainment, industry, rebellion, memories and the people who have made the town what it is.
Come along and help us stitch Blackpool’s story together. You don’t need to be an expert stitcher or embroiderer - just bring your ideas, memories and creativity. We’ll work together to create a colourful, contemporary celebration of Blackpool and its history, one stitch at a time.
Good to know
- All equipment and materials are provided.
- You can join in with the activity or bring your own crafty projects to work on.
- Beginners warmly welcomed.

Access
- Please note that the lift is currently out of order.
- This session is in the upstairs workshop. This can be accessed by lift or up a single flight of 14 steps (then you go around the corner and there are two small steps).
- There is a toilet on the first floor, adjacent to the workshop space.

Getting Here
- Tram & Train to Blackpool North Station
- Bus: No 6 or 18 to Topping St., No 3, 3a, 5c, 6, 18 to Church St (Stanley Buildings), No 5, 5a, 5b, 6, 7a, 14 to Talbot Rd
- Driving: The closest pay and display car parks are on East Topping St and Talbot Road multi storey. There is also parking at the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket, please make sure that you check the terms before you use the car park.
TOP TIP: If you need to park a car, then there is usually plenty of free on-street parking on Edward St and Topping St from 6pm.
