Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) strives for justice and equity for all persons, regardless of where they were born. They promote justice by defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education. NWIRP is the largest organization in Washington state providing free, comprehensive immigration legal services for people with low or no income. Their legal services are critical to helping thousands of immigrants navigate the complexities of the United States immigration system so they can apply for asylum or other forms of immigration protection. Without appropriate legal assistance, the men, women and children served by NWIRP may be less likely to obtain legal immigration status, and more likely to be returned to a country where they face ill treatment, torture, or even death. Klez Chaos is the Northwest’s essential, high energy community klezmer orchestra drawn from an open monthly klezmer jam with a nearly 20-year history. Led by clarinetist Bernice Maslan, Klez Chaos concert and folkdance performances include countless appearances at the Northwest Folklife Festival and the Lake City Contra Dance. The version of Klez Chaos playing this gig will feature a baker’s dozen of fine musicians, including clarinets, violin and electric violin, string bass, saxophone, concertina, piano, mandolin, accordion, concertina, poyk, and hand percussion. www.seattleklezmer.com/klez-chaos
The Klein Party celebrates and plays “klezmerish music from All the Old Countries with a jazz sensibility and rock-and-roll exuberance.” The core of the repertoire are original arrangements of Ashkenazi Jewish music from the Old & New Worlds, as well as other music from around the world that shares the ecstatic joy and emotional intensity of the music we call “klezmer.” Over the past eight years, the Klein Party has played to thousands of enthusiastic listeners and dancers at the Royal Room, Pink Door, Northwest Folklife Festival, Washington Performance Center, Kirkland Performance Center, Vashon Center for the Arts, and many farmers' markets, mitzvahs, holiday parties, city park events, picnics, live streams, and six consecutive International Ice Cream Day celebrations. https://thekleinparty.com
