Hello everyone! I am very happy to host this Kizomba drop in!We start the event with an intro class at 19:40.
The level varies based on who shows up, you can come alone, or bring your friend, your partner, your neighbor or the whole neighborhood.
The class costs 25kr :)
Social Dance is absolutely free! We start at 20:15.
We will be playing a mix of Kizomba/Semba, UrbanKiz/Tarraxo, Afrokiz and a dash of Douceur/Kompa so you can get a taste of all the genre.
Participation Guideline (Very important partđ§)
We want to keep our space safe, comfortable, and welcoming for everyone. These are just a few simple guidelines and rules to help us all enjoy our Kizomba Wednesdays together.
If anything here is unclear, feel free to reach out to Criss or Catherine, weâre always happy to help đ
1. Boundaries
Social dancing means we share personal space, and everyone experiences that differently. What feels natural to you might feel uncomfortable to someone else, and thatâs completely okay.
If someone says they would not like to dance in a close embrace, return to an open position. No follow-up questions needed. If you are unsure which position is appropriate, you can always refer to Criss or Catherine. We are here to help you.
And remember, if a dance feels awkward, itâs perfectly fine to say âThank you for the danceâ and step away. No judgment at all.
2. Teaching on the Dance Floor
No matter your level, the social floor is a place to relax, enjoy, and practice, not to teach.
Leaders: if something isnât working, try adjusting your lead a bit. If it still doesnât click, simply move on and keep the flow.
Followers: if your leader is struggling, take it easy, stay patient, and follow their rhythm.
Weâre all learning, and sometimes the fun is in figuring things out together đ
3. Intentions & Respect
Kizomba is a close and expressive dance, and the connection can feel special, but itâs important to remember:
A âyesâ to a dance is only a âyesâ to dancing.
We all come from different backgrounds and perspectives, so letâs keep things respectful and comfortable for everyone.
If you ever feel uncomfortable, you can simply say âThank youâ and leave the dance. Youâre never expected to stay for an entire song.
And if you find yourself getting turned down often, it might be helpful to ask your own teachers for feedback. Theyâre there to support you.
4. Hygene
>If you sweat a lot, bring extra t shirts. No one likes to dance with someone who is soaking wet.
>Have chewing gum - even if you think your breath smells as fresh as the Swiss Alps.
>Carry deodorant with you and use them - even if you think you don't stink (allergic to parfume? use Neutral)
At the end of the day, weâre here to enjoy the music, the connection, and each otherâs company. Letâs keep it kind, respectful, and fun đ
One may ask, what if i encounter something unpleasant? What do I do? There will be a few "peacemakers" including Criss and/or Catherine at the event that you can speak to.
Finally number 5. Help to clean up
We will need help at 22:15 to help clean up! The more the hands, the quicker we can get things done :)
If you made it all the way here, pat your back and let's dance on Wednesday!
I am looking forward to seeing all of you <3
Hugs,
Catherine
