Kintsugi Workshop: The Art of Mending with Gold
About this Event
Kintsugi Workshop: The Art of Mending with Gold
Join us for a powerful and creative experience centered around Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. In this hands-on workshop in Los Angeles, you’ll learn to embrace imperfections by turning a broken object into a meaningful and beautiful piece of art.
You’ll begin by intentionally breaking a ceramic piece you select from the studio , then carefully repair it using gold adhesive to highlight the cracks—not hide them.
This thoughtful process symbolizes healing, resilience, and the idea that brokenness can be transformed into beauty.
Whether you’re joining solo, with a loved one, or honoring someone special, this Kintsugi workshop in LA offers a reflective space to slow down, connect, and create something lasting.
Important: This Is an Introductory WorkshopThis experience is designed as an accessible introduction to the art, philosophy, and modern practice of Kintsugi. We do not use traditional urushi lacquer or real gold, and this is not a museum-grade restoration course. Traditional Kintsugi can require specialized materials and multiple stages completed over several days or weeks. Our workshop uses modern materials so guests can experience the concept and creative process within a single session and take their finished piece home the same day.
What you'll get:
- Ceramic piece provided by the studio that you break yourself! (Fun!)
- All tools and materials
- Introduction to Kintsugi and wabi-sabi
- Step-by-step instructor guidance while giving space and assistance as needed
- Your completed piece to take home
No prior experience is required; bring the desire to let go and see the beauty in this art form.
