Treat yourself to an unforgettable morning of mindfulness with intention on Sunday 5 Oct for my popular Kintsugi Culture Cuisine Experience to celebrate the Moon Festival!
This centuries old art form is filled with many philosophical lessons and can be viewed as a metaphor for healing ourselves by embracing our own flaws and imperfections.
Traditional Kintsugi can take months to complete. In this 4.5 hour workshop I’ll share my contemporary methods to practice and apply on any ceramics that need to be mended to allow you to repair and restore into something unique and resilient rather than disposing of!
Booking essential as space is limited. DM/WhatsApp/Quicket to secure your seat.
What to expect:
A morning of mindfulness to learn the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi and to apply this to a ceramic of your own that needs to be repaired.
What to bring:
A ceramic of your own like a vase/pot plant holder/bowl etc that is either broken in half or with 2 - 4 pieces broken off. You can also bring a ceramic that isn’t broken and I’ll teach you how to break it! Please note the technique I will share uses gold leaf / gold powder that is not food grade safe.
If you don’t have a ceramic to use - there will be many ceramics on sale to choose from!
What’s the cost:
This beginner class is an introduction into the slow, mindful ancient art of Kintsugi and includes the following:
- Learning the slow art of kintsugi and how you can apply the teachings to your own life to embrace imperfection!
- All materials included! BYO ceramic or purchase from our collection
This experience includes our famous Dimsum lunch (delish handmade Dimsum: preservative and MSG free) made with organic veggies and free-range meats for you to order and enjoy! Vegan option available!
We are fully licensed with a wide selection of: SA Craft beers, SA Fine wines, Japanese sake/whisky, Chinese beers/rice wines, Korean soju!
The details:
Date: Sun 5 Oct 2025 at 9:30am - 2pm. Please arrive on time to settle in as we will start promptly.
Venue: Yescas Teahouse, Hout Bay
