About this Event

About the Event: The Kinetic Push-Pull Powerlifting Meet is a Raw Classic (non-sanctioned) powerlifting competition benefiting the IM ABLE Foundation. The event will follow the standard USA Powerlifting (USAPL) rules and regulations outlined below. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the IM ABLE Foundation, whose mission is to empower individuals living with physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral disabilities to enjoy the benefits of physical activity by providing grants for adaptive equipment and inclusive programming opportunities. Rules and Regulations:

Measurement Units: The meet will use pounds (lbs) for weigh-ins and all lifts.

Eligibility: Minimum age: 14 years old.Competitors will be categorized by sex, bodyweight, and age. For participants under 18 years old a legal parent or guardian waiver signature is required to participate in the event. (A PDF form of the waiver will be emailed to participants under the age of 18 and must be recieved prior to the event in order for the athlete to participate.)

Competition Format:

  • Two lifts: Bench Press and Deadlift.
  • Three attempts per lift; the best valid attempt for each lift counts toward the total.
  • In the event of tied totals:

The lighter lifter ranks higher. If lifters have the same bodyweight, the lifter who achieved the total first takes precedence.

Awards: Best Total Lifting Score (per age category), Best Pound-for-Pound Lifter, Best Bench Press Total, Best Deadlift Total. Adaptive Categories: Best Adaptive Total Lifting Score (per age category), Best Adaptive Lifter Bench Press, Best Adaptive Lifter Deadlift.

Age Categories:

Sub-Junior: 14–18 years

Junior: 19–23 years

Open: 24-39 years

Masters:

Master I: 40–49 years

Master II: 50–59 years

Master III: 60–69 years

Master IV: 70+ years

Competition Rules:Lifting Equipment:

  • Allowed: Weightlifting belts (max 10 cm), knee sleeves, wrist wraps.
  • Not Allowed: Bench suits, knee wraps, lifting straps, grips.
  • No singlet is required

Lights System:

  • White light = Good Lift
  • Red light = No Lift
  • Referees will signal decisions only after lift completion.

Bench Press Performance:

  • Head, shoulders, and buttocks must remain in contact with the bench.
  • Feet must stay flat on the floor.
  • The Chief Referee’s commands: Start, Press, Rack.
  • Causes for Disqualification:
  • Failure to follow referee signals.
  • Uneven pressing or downward movement after the press command.
  • Contact with the bar by spotters/loaders before the signal.

Deadlift Performance:

  • Lift until standing erect with knees locked and shoulders back.
  • The Chief Referee’s command: Down (after achieving the final position).
  • Causes for Disqualification:
  • Downward bar movement before completion.
  • Failure to lock knees or retract shoulders.
  • Dropping the bar uncontrolled.

Order of Competition:

  • Lifters declare opening attempts at weigh-in.
  • Lifting order is based on weights declared, progressing by increasing weight.
  • Lifters have one minute to declare subsequent attempts after completing a lift.
  • In the deadlift’s third round, two changes to the declared weight are allowed before being called to the bar.

Round System:

  • Groups will be formed for sessions if more than 10 lifters are present.
  • Lifting proceeds by rounds (first, second, third attempts) within each group.
  • Compensatory time will be added for groups with fewer than six lifters.

Safety and Equipment Checks:

  • All equipment will be inspected before use.
  • Spotters/loaders will assist but cannot intervene unless requested or for safety.
