Kindermusik is an acclaimed early education music and movement methodology loved by a million families in 60 countries. It focuses on:- experiential learning
- process over product
- having fun
- listening, thinking, singing and moving together in a community environment
- building SEL skills
- providing YOU with the materials to bring participatory music-making into your home
All Together Now Studios is coming to West Art with full "curriculums" (4-5 week-long units) in the Fall of 2025. These sample classes are offered to see if Kinderrmusik is right for your family. Classes typically run on Wednesdays from 10-10:45 am and 3:15-4 pm.
WHO'S IT FOR?
Level 3 Mixed Classes are geared toward (approx.) 2 - 6 year olds. The median age the curricula is designed for is pre-school age (3-5). Younger and older children can still have a blast participating, and all children with you are welcome to be present.
You can judge whether attending siblings (18 mo. or a mature 6 years for example) will benefit from class participation - in which case they are discounted - or if they're likely too young or old for the material and will simply be in attendance with (or on!) you - in which case they may come for free.
Caregivers participate with children during the 40-minute class. Disruptions from siblings are understood; I'm excited to partner with your kiddo if needed while you step out for diaper changes or meltdowns with others.
HOW DO CLASSES WORK?
This is a fully tolerant environment. Children participate at their own comfort and capacity. Some engage spiritedly while others sit back. Some wander into corners while some grab the rhythm blocks out of my hands - it's all OK! I make adaptations to the class based on the energy of the room. I guide through the material with singing, demonstration and invitation. We pretend play, use props (age-appropriate instruments, streamers, drums, play scarves and much more), circle dance, run around, and learn hand-play games. And of course, we sing! Sometimes children need to tap out for a little while. Kindermusik recognizes that valuable social-emotional learning is still happening even when children are in observation mode. Whether you have a shy one or a wild one, don't let that hold you back. There's no product/goal.
Kindermusik is about young kids practicing creativity, connection, confidence and coordination in community through the vehicle of music.
WHO AM I?
Hi, I'm Fiona Gillespie. Mom to a 3 year old boy, Geordie, and aunt to more toddlers. I'm a professional singer and instrumentalist, licensed Kinderrmusik educator, dancer, and community gathering advocate. I come from Bethlehem, PA where I run a nonprofit that puts on arts and culture education events and social dances. My husband and I recently moved to Strasburg, PA to live with his family. I've taught young kids to college-aged students in various capacities for the past 12 years. I'm excited to bring Kindermusik to this amazing new community venue and cafe in the heart of Lancaster.
