Join Professor Salvia on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting June 17 through July 23 for Operation: Native Plants for Birds!
About this Event

Combining Audubon's Plants for Birds program with the Junior Master Gardner's plant curriculum you'll take an adventure with Professor Salvia to discover how plants help birds. We propagate our own seeds, learn how important soil is to the plants, fight the Evil Commander Privet, and discover the best plants to host birds in your yard and nearby parks.

Each week will be a different topic presented on both Wednesday and Thursday (same class presented on both days). You can come each week on whichever day fits your schedule or only come once, either way it will be a fun summer!

*Best for children 7yrs to 12yrs.

Register

June 17 and 18: Plant Growth and Development - We will learn how plants grow and make our world a better place for birds and us!

June 24 and 25: Soils and Water - We're getting our hands dirty today learning how soil and water impact a plant's growth. We will be planting some seeds to grow our own plants!

July 8 and 9: Ecology and Environmental Horticulture - We'll talk about how we must all take care of each other for a healthy world. Today we'll fight Commander Privet and his invasive pals in our preserve, knocking out non-native plants that steal the resources of our native plants.

July 15 and 16: Plants, Insects, and Birds - Learn how plants support birds by attracting insects in various ways.

July 22 and 23: Landscape Horticulture - Learn how to create a garden at home, whether in a yard or on a balcony, you can provide plants for birds!
