Kids' Scrappy Doll Sewing Workshop at Manchester Craft and Design Centre
About this Event
Children will be guided to design their own character by adding hair, face features and clothing. A pre-sewn doll blank will be provided which they will stuff, clothe and personalise, using various hand and machine sewing techniques such as: appliqué, basic machine, hand and embroidery sewing. All equipment and materials will be provided and you will be amazed at how different each doll will be!
The workshop is for 7+ years (to be accompanied by an adult) and no previous experience is required. The groups are limited to six participants (plus adults) per session to ensure that Elizabeth can give everyone personal instruction. This also gives a lovely group atmosphere where children can encourage and inspire one another.
The workshop has been created and run by Elizabeth Owen of Sew It Seams, Stockport, a sewing studio that offers a range of workshops and classes for all experience levels (https://www.sew-it-seams.net/). Elizabeth has been sewing for most of her life and is passionate about sharing her love of all things fabric. She is also the seamstress, and sometime freelance technical editor, for Love Sewing Magazine.
