Explore creativity through ceramics at Kids N Clay Camp, a hands-on summer experience for students ages 14–17. This immersive camp gives young artists the opportunity to work with clay using both hand-building techniques and the potter’s wheel while creating functional pottery, sculpture, and decorative pieces.
Campers will learn techniques including pinch, coil, slab construction, wheel throwing, carving, and glazing in a collaborative studio environment guided by demonstrations and student instructors.
Both full-day and half-day options are available.
Camp Schedule
• Full Day: 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Morning Session: 8–11:30 a.m.
• Lunch: 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
• Afternoon Session: 12:30–4 p.m.
Throughout the week, students will create a variety of ceramic projects while building technical skills and artistic confidence.
Weekly Schedule Highlights
Monday
Morning: Get Throwing – learn to center clay and throw bowls on the potter’s wheel
Afternoon: Continue Throwing – additional wheel practice and skill development
Tuesday
Morning: Cups and Mugs – focus on wheel-thrown cups
Afternoon: Get a Handle on It – learn how to attach handles to pottery pieces
Wednesday
Morning: Plates and Decorating – create push plates with carved and underglaze designs
Afternoon: Slab Vase – construct decorative slab-built vases with stamps, carving, and underglaze techniques
Thursday
Morning: Show Us What You Learned – open studio making time featuring favorite techniques and projects
Afternoon: Glaze-a-thon Part 1 – begin glazing finished pieces
Friday
Morning: Glaze-a-thon Part 2 – continue glazing and finishing work
Afternoon: Finish glazing and Clay Play time
Monday through Wednesday will focus on creating pottery and sculpture projects, while Thursday and Friday will emphasize glazing and finishing techniques.
