Step aside lightweights: KI/KI’s back. The Spielraum resident delivers the goods with an authority and funk that cannot be faked. Her capacity to steer through frenetic, chaotic waters is up there with the best, and she draws on lineages of acid, techno and trance to create a psychedelic maelstrom. Herrensauna resident Salome returns to the booth for an electro-fused workout. Her impact is, by this point, an undisputed matter of public record. Whether in her DJ sets or solo productions, Salome’s raw ferocity and nervy funk set it off every time. Morenxxx’s music traverses from throbbing, riotous techno to performance art. A true artist with an intuitive feel for the essence of the dance, Morenxxx brings out something primordial. Schacke has established himself as one of STUDIO’s key artists, a shapeshifting visionary whose relentless experimentation keeps his music ever-fresh. Back for the second time since his appearance at WIRE, the Fast Forward artist is as comfortable in techno, house, harsh noise, moody ambient, gooey Eurodance and hard-hitting peak time bangers; he always brings something exemplary to the mix. Jek returns. The Earth Dog Records boss swims in the deep end of trippy, driving club sounds that fuse sharply defined edges with a gooey core. Connor Wrong is part of a vanguard of artists drawing on psy-infused sounds and wormhole traversals to articulate a modern vision of dancefloor liberation. The multidisciplinary artist makes their STUDIO debut.
