Glasgow Print Studio is proud to present Indigo Series: An Turas / The Crossing, a solo exhibition of new etchings by acclaimed Scottish artist Ken Currie. Closely connected to his recent exhibitions in London and Stornoway, these prints explore resilience, survival, and the elemental power of the sea. Textured, atmospheric, and deeply moving, they reflect Currie’s pursuit of the “distressed image” — images weathered by the elements, echoing the sea and its impact on life in the Hebrides.
For this series, Currie took an unusually independent approach, working on the reverse sides of previously used copper plates and applying pigments himself to achieve a painterly, fluid quality. The final prints, brought to edition by Master Printer Alistair Gow, carry the history of previous marks and labour, resulting in works that feel both elemental and deeply human.
